John Travers has been selected to represent Ireland in the World Universities Games in Gwangju, South Korea next month (Games take place between 3rd and 14th of July). The versatile Donore Harriers athlete has been picked for both the 1,500m and 10,000m.

Travers (1.52.4) won the Dublin senior 800m championship at Tallaght last Wednesday evening in a dramatic race. A gallant front running effort by Kieran Kelly of Raheny Shamrocks AC (1.52.7) saw him lead until he lost his footing just metres from the finish line allowing Travers to edge home in first place.

John Travers was the runaway winner of the Sub-4-Minute Mile Challenge race at Buncrana on Sunday. His time of 4.09 saw him finish well clear of Danny Mooney (4.21) and Ruairi Finnegan (4.22), both of host club Letterkenny AC.
