Donore runners have been achieving top placings on the road in the past few weeks from 5k up to marathon distance. At the inaugural medieval marathon in Kilkenny, George Brady who has ran over 100 marathons had one of his best ones by finishing 2nd here in 2.50.32 one of his fastest times over this distance.
Rossa Hurley was an emphatic winner of Clonliffe Harriers’ 10,000m Grand Prix race, finishing in 33.36, over half a minute ahead of 2nd place. Terry Mee (M70) ran an impressive 47.25 in the same race.
Earlier in the week a big contingent contested the Grant Thornton 5k corporate challenge around the Dublin Docklands competing for their workplaces. First home there was Graham Hopkins who has not raced much of late so it was great to see him back in action where he got 16.31 here with new member Fergal Roche in 16.42. Sinead Graham finished in 19.25 a new PB.
The week before, John Travers came 2nd in the Fionnuala McCormack kilomarathon (26k) in 95.17. The same day, Mark Dooley was 2nd 31.59 and Lee Van Haeften 3rd 32.34 in the Tony Donoghue 10k in Moone Kildare.
Sam Allen won the BHAA Pfizer 5k in Celbridge in 16.30.
In Charleville Cork, Blessington, Athlone, Longford and Tullamore over the past few weeks Donore runners have been competing – with top 3 positions for Barbara Murray, Rory O’Connor, Ashling Swaine. Full results below
