Donore athletes were busy over the weekend with participants in the South O'Hanlon 4 mile in Navan on Friday, in the National Master's Track & Field in Tullamore on Saturday, and with a group of runners travelling to the Streets of Galway on Saturday evening.
In Navan, Donore notched up two wins in the South O'Hanlon 4 mile with Lee Van Haeften winning the junior category in 22.12 and John Downes taking the M40 title in a time of 20.28, placing fifth overall. Graham Morgan was third man home, coming back from an injury with a good time of 24.38. Paul Myles ran 26.22, and manged a second in the M55 category, with Thomas Hopkins running 27.52 to take 3rd in the M55. Karen McLoughlin also took part and completed in an impressive time of 29.07.
At the National Master's Track & Field events in Tullamore, Anne Gormley had an impressive win in the 3km walk taking the over 35 category. Mary McDermott took part in the 3km race finishing in 11.42. Ali Loughney competed in the 800m, finishing in a time of 2.27. Later on in the day Bernie Kavanagh took silver and Ali Loughney took bronze in the 1500m race in the F40 and F35 categories respectively.
Over west the Donore athletes also performed extremely well, with sub 30 minute times being clocked in the 8km race by Gavin Keogh (27.48), Colin Moore (29.22) and Fred Kiernan (29.40). Padraid McGreal came home in 31.32, Andy Downes in 32.14, John Gleeson in 32.47 and Gavin McGowan in 34.17. The ladies also had a good day's running with Cliodhna Carty finishing in 32.25 and Jo Walsh in 37.02.
Meanwhile Adrienne Jordan produced another good performance in the 1,500m at the BMC Nike Grand Prix final at Eton. Adrienne won her race just outside her PB but knocking on the door with a time of 4.37.03.
