Great night of Athletics at the 5th Graded Meet

It was the 5th graded track meet last night in Irishtown staged on a rain soaked track for a change.  Donore were well represented on the night with our athletes trying their feet at distances over 1,500m and 3,000m.

The main events of the evening were the development races over 3,000m.  The first of 3 races was the Ladies, with Adrienne Jordan running a great race and taking 3rd spot in 10.06.75.  Next up was the Men's dev 1 race with Philip Cavanagh running the first 1,200m as pacemaker and an ambitious John Travers with sights set on a PB. John ran a great race to finish 9th in 8.43.26 a PB and just shy of his targeted 8.38 which won't be far off based on his recent form.  In the 2nd development race 5 Donore athletes lined up. Mark Dooley finished 6th in a PB of 9.14.24 followed home by the ever improving Eric Keogh in 9.17.63 also a PB and Danny Crean 8th in 9.18.24.  Gavin Keogh was 10th disappointed with his 9.50.50 and George Brady 11th in 9.57.31.

Norma Harnedy running only her 2nd track race tried the Ladies 1500m and finished in a very respectable 5.13.24.  In the Men's races Donal Iremonger was in action in the 1st of 2 grade C races crossing the line in 4th in 4.28.51.  Colin Moore ran the 2nd grade C race notching up a PB of 4.28.88 and finishing in 6th place with Max Van Haeften just behind in 7th (4.32.88).  Darren Kelly ran the final race of the evening acquitting himself well with a 12th place 4.24.65.  Well done to all on the night, looking forward to seeing the improvements over the season.
